The United States is often compared with the Roman Empire. Many of our laws come from Roman laws. Our government is modeled after the Roman Republic. Even our government buildings are modeled after Roman architecture. The Roman Empire was once considered the greatest empire in the world and the United States is now considered to be the world's only "super power." However, like all great empires, after years of decline the Roman Empire eventually fell.
Is the United States destined to fall as the once great Roman Empire did?

Is the United States destined to fall as the once great Roman Empire did? my responce to this is maby. America could go down the same road that theRomans took but you ahve to remember,"history is writen after it happends not before". As for America it's doing fine for now. but there have been signs that we are leaning into the same thing that killed the Romans. afew of them happen to be: not having the best leader(explains itself), inflation (diddo), terrorists(The Hun), diseases(swine flu),and hiring mercenaries(people from mexico{hey dident they give us the swine flu?}). but the one thing that we have that the Romans dident have. we have more advanced miltary, medical, and eduacation sytem. but even with all that we still have to be carefull or else we will turn out like our dead freinds over in europe. ReplyDeleteI dont think the U.S will fall like the romans did. Or at least for a couple hundred years. First of all, I dont think there has been even a division of one country since the Korean war.In that case, as bad as some economies are in countries, I dont think that is bad enough to make them fall any time soon. Second, If the U.S were to fall, it will be in WWIII. And that to me, will probably not be any time soon. So maybe the U.S along with many other countries will fall someday, but that will not be for a long time.
ReplyDeleteThe United States could fall many years from now. If we get another Great Depression and if we do not not have a strong leader or president we will fall. If the United States tries to help the country then we will stay up for a while, but power doesn't last forever.
ReplyDeleteWe are similar to the Romans in many ways. One way is our law system. Our laws today are based on what the Romans thought laws should be in the past. Also, our architecture is similar. The United States' building in Washington D.C. where our government is held are made just like the Roman buildings were.
ReplyDeletei think eventually the US will fall buh not anytime soon. yes were in a recession buh thats part of the cycle. i think well have a "golden age" soon enough and continue to fallow the cycle. i feel like all empires fall in time. we'll get a weak ruler and well fall like all the others, althopugh we did have george bush as our leader and we didnt fall...hahahaha
ReplyDeletethe roman empire and US are similar in so many ways such as the achitecture, laws, government and how or the world perceives us as empires.
I dont think the united states will fall because we have a strong government and military that can protect our country from other invaders. Even though are government is in a recession we have laws that protect our citizen's finances and aid to relieve us from devestation. Our country has food available and medical advances in technology to help protect us from disease.
ReplyDeleteRoman empire and us are similar by expanding their land by conqouring places,and bothe belived in law and government,both had superior military and both believe in the importance of trade.
i agree with icecoffee2 because their is not enouph war to have the country fall and if something did happen it wouldnt happen for many years.
ReplyDeleteI do believe that the United States will crumble eventually but not any time soon.As of right now we are pretty well,although our economy is not the greatest right now and we are in debt with almost 3 trillion dollars.A good thing right now is that we have a swell president, who is trying to get us out of debt.But i do not believe that the us will fall as badly as the roman empire because we have a well organized government that can stop a lot of disasters from happening.

ReplyDeleteI dissagree with iced coffee because I think the united states will eventually fall because obviously as mrs bartos has stated every empire so far has fallen and to that information I do beloved this civilization will fall do to economy or china will take over. I belive history repeats itself so maybe.

ReplyDeleteI believe that the United States won't fall like the Roman Empire did because we have a decent amount of years before a new president is elected. Each president we have comes up with different ideas to help make our country better. Such as ideas about our economy or building up our security in case of terrorist attacks like we have had in the past.

ReplyDeletealso not that important but the romans had the Colosseum, a large entertainment arena, and we the U.s have many arenas just like that.
I agree with the statements that NAME13 said, but I think that the United States wont fall because of the connections we have with other countries, but if we loose some respect we get from those countries then eventually we would fall.
ReplyDeleteThe United States and the Roman Empire are similar from their government, laws, and by having foreign soliders. The United States and the Roman Empire both have senators and rulers for their country and empire. The Roman Empire had the Twelve Tables and the Five Pillars for their laws. The United States have The Constitution and The Bill of Rights. Finally, the Roman Empire hired mercanaries to protect the boarders of their empire. In the United States immigrants come over and take a citizenship test and if they pass then they can go into the military and become a solider for the United States.
I agree with name13 because if the U.S. does fall it won't be for a while. I agree that the reason the country would fall would be because of a weak leader or because of the economy falling. Though I still don't think that the U.S will fall because it is a strong country.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe the United States will fall as the Roman Empire did. Hopefully Americans will learn from history and not make the same mistakes the Romans made. Soon it will be my generations turn to run the country and I think we will do a better job than the current leaders.

ReplyDeletei semi agree with pinkparrot because we are a strong empire but we dont have to turn up like the romans. if we can fix the little problems now they wont turn into bigger problems. for example lets take our problem with oil and other products that come from over seas, if they deside to stop selling us there goods we can wine and cry and throw tempertantrums but they have the power to bring up down. so mabe this wont happen but its one more thing that can go wrong that could end us. just something for you to think about. ReplyDeletei do not think that the U.S. is going to fall because our army is very strong and more and more people are joining every day. the U.S. and the roman empire are similar because the U.S. is undefeated so far and looking undefeatable. as for the roman empire, they were not defeatable aswell.

ReplyDeleteThe United States and Roman are similar because they have laws, military and there are leaders running the country. The United States has always been a strong country but the last couple years it has not done so good. Lots of people have lost jobs, their savings and the war hasn't stopped. There are illnesses going around now too. I don't get why banks get money so they don't fail and some people working there get big bonuses. I don't get why we help other countries that have no money and food but our people are starving and out of jobs. Because of some of the things going on, I think we may take the same path as the Romans but hopefully not.

ReplyDeleteI don't think the us could fall Like Rome did, maybe not for 100s or 1000s of years, depends on the economy. Us is similar to Rome because of our laws and punishments and architect is similar, such as pillars on the white house.

We are similar to the roman empire by how we have the republic government, and some of the same laws. We both also have the public elect the officials.

ReplyDeleteAt one point or another in my opinion there is a time for everything to fall into its decline it could be prolonged but eventually the United States will ,like rome, will reach its fall. Its an unfortunate thought but based on money problems that are going on in brockport which is the same thing thats happening in The US, There is a time when everything falls,you can prolong it but its still may end up happening. after a great fall though something greater takes its place.

The U.S. will never fall because we have a good government and we are always going to war with areas like iraq. So we can overcome the depression. Unlike places like the roman empire.

I also agree with the fact that this probably wont happen until many years later from now...but already thinqs have effected the US. Like this Recession, The Swine Flu, and depletion of natural resources.
its hard to answer cause no one can really say but i think i agree with james1995 yes if the US stays on the track the it is on now it will end eventually. US and Rome have similar laws and both have a strong government. BTW bubblegum i dont think that u even no wht ur r talking about if u think that bush was a bad president u probally just heard someone else say it and ur just repeating it

ReplyDeleteI believe that the united states is possibly on the same road as rome was because, like rome we had a long period of wealth and economic prosperity. But also like rome we are now experiencing somewhat of a fall or reccetion which could lead to the end of the united states but, unlike rome we have not had any invaders and we dont drop half of our country.

In romes case their set of written documents in the 12 tables and i guess the united states written laws would be maybe the bill of rights. Roman architecture is found in present day washington dc. Our government is similar to the roman republic. We have a senate, reprensantatives and also citizens.

ReplyDeletei don't think anyone can really have an accurate answer to this question because noone can really tell the future but if i had to take an educated guess i would say that the united states wont necessarily "fall" like the roman empire but it will probably weaken at some point.. any good empire or leader weakens at some point but that doesn't mean they will completley fall. yess, the united states and the roman empire are alike but now adays people of the nited states have learned from the mistakes of the roman empire
